Gènesi, Ferran Adrià’s Culinary Revolution

Gènesi

Minoria Absoluta has begun pre-production on Gènesi, a new fiction series that explores the early days of elBulli, the culinary revolution sparked by Ferran Adrià and Juli Soler when they took the reins of the restaurant and steered it towards excellence.

A project based on real events, with dramatic licenses taken. The story and culinary content are endorsed by elBullifoudation. The series is directed by David Pujol and stars Miquel Fernández, Ivan Massagué, Mònica López, and Carlos Cuevas, among others.

In the 1980s, a young Ferran Adrià stumbles into elBulli’s kitchens. What starts as a temporary job becomes the beginning of a culinary revolution that will forever change his life and the history of cuisine worldwide.

Decades later, in 2025, Glòria Canabach, a retired critic haunted by guilt, returns to the United States after her father’s passing.

There, she reunites with her niece Lola, and together they decide to reopen the family restaurant, Can Canabach. As Ferran says goodbye to elBulli and Glòria tries to forgive herself, both find solace in cooking and a chance to start anew.

Génesis is a production by Minoría Absoluta, Fishcorb Media, and Emulsión Films AIE, in collaboration with 3Cat and Netflix, and with the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the World Gastronomy Region 2025.

The series is scheduled to premiere in autumn 2026 on 3Cat.
